Magnum Opus Financial Legal Disclosure
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY (this document must be read in its entirety):
Investing is an art as much as it is a science. Hours and hours of research and analysis goes into everything you see on this website (for both the investment information as well as the insurance information). Specifically regarding investments it is important to note that any mention of a stock or mutual fund is done so in context. Without watching every single show of "Fast Money" or "Mad Money" you will inevitably take something out of context. The same is true for our website. We encourage you to visit daily and read everything that you can so that you have the context for a piece of information you are looking at. Even though you may be able to do that, nothing we ever say will ever constitute a guarantee or anything close, nor can a guarantee ever be implied or inferred from something we say or "publish" on the website. You will never get a guarantee from anything other than a CD, and I encourage everyone to read the fine print on CDs and any other investment information or choice available to you. It is important to review the prospectus of any mutual fund you buy and listen to the conference calls and read ALL the SEC Filings of any stock that you buy.
A person must have two things in order to make investment decisions for themselves: time and inclination. Again, we reiterate the same standard that you will hear on Jim Cramer's Show, "Mad Money", on CNBC. You MUST do one hour of homework for each position (stock, mutual fund, ETF, bond, or other instrument) per week. Example: If you own 5 stocks, you must spend 5 hours per week reading or watching information specifically related to your stock and the industry and sector it is a part of. Without doing this homework, you do NOT have the time to invest and we recommend you work with an investment professional instead. The second thing is the inclination. If you do NOT like reading, watching, and spending hours a day and dozens of hours a week in this "world" commonly referred to as "Wall Street", if numbers are not exciting to you and you think talking about stocks at a party is boring, than you do NOT have the inclination or disposition to invest. Again we recommend that you work with your investment professional. Even if you DO meet both of the above criteria, do your homework, spend hours and hours on this, we still recommend that you consult an investment professional regarding your investment decisions.
Please be aware that reading information and watching videos on our website does not constitute consulting an investment professional. While we can be contacted personally and you can become a client, this can ONLY be done after signing a Customer Agreement and other necessary documentation AFTER we meet with you and have a lengthy conversation about your personal situation, goals, and risk profile. If you have not gone through this process, you have not, are not, and will not be considered a client, nor have you consulted with us or be considered to have consulted with us until this above mentioned process has taken place. If you are a current client, the information found on this page still does not constitute advice until it has been personally discussed with you on how it fits your current goals, situation, and risk profile.
In addition to time and inclination; goals, situations, and risk profile; there are still other things to consider. Two of those things are time frame and temperament. If you only have 2 weeks to make money, many of the companies you find on this website may not fit that particular profile. If you want to own something for 10 years, many things do not fit that profile. Again, it will be necessary for you to consult with your investment professional to determine whether the position is suitable for your goals, situation, and risk profile. In addition to time frame, temperament is equally as important. Just because something will make money, does not mean you will be comfortable owning something. Often investment ideas and products are associated with someone's age. This is not the only thing to take into account in terms of temperament. If a stock would go from $4 to $10 in 3 weeks and then dive back down to $7 and then slowly climb back up, this may make many people uncomfortable. Stocks have different Beta, a term associated with volatility compared to the market as a "whole". Again, when a particular position is being evaluated, it has to suit your temperament, meaning the "style" you like to invest with. Several strategies include, but are NOT limited to, "buy and hold", "short-term trading ", "buy on dips and sell on rips", etc. Each of these strategies fits a particular person, goal, and situation and the positions held by that particular person should match the goals, expectations, risk profile, time frame, and temperament. In short, there is no substitute for working with a professional money manager that you have selected that ALSO meets all of the above criteria particular to your situation (as you can find money managers that meet your goals, expectations, risk profile, time frame, and temperament). None of the information on this website should be considered or construed as a recommendation for your particular situation, but is rather meant to be used along side other credible information as research on a potential investment. Much of the content on this website is considered "entertainment" and as such, should be taken into consideration when making your final decision (in conjunction with an investment professional).
